Gabby Agbonlahor<\/strong> has insisted Aston Villa can match any contract offer made to Douglas Luiz as Arsenal’s interest in his services continues.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider<\/strong>, claimed he is “hopeful” the Brazil international will follow the likes of Ollie Watkins and Ezri Konsa by penning renewed terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Football Insider <\/strong>revealed on Sunday (29 October) that Villa are preparing to open contract talks with midfielder Luiz in the new year after his stellar early-season form.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arsenal and Gunners boss Mikel Arteta are long-term admirers of the 25-year-old and have tried to sign him on multiple occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luiz has made 16 appearances across all competitions this season, notching six goals and one assist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His current deal, which nets him a reported<\/a> \u00a375,000-a-week, is set to expire in June 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has recently earned a recall to the Brazil squad and got his ninth cap in the loss against Uruguay last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agbonlahor told Football Insider<\/strong>\u2019s Ewan Kingsbury: \u201cI\u2019m hopeful he will extend that contract.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe reason I think he will is that he\u2019s starting every week, he\u2019s playing in Europe, he\u2019s playing his best football.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy wouldn\u2019t you sign? Aston Villa is a massive club, and I\u2019m sure he will follow the likes of Watkins, McGinn and Konsa.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVilla are paying very, very good money right now. Huge money. They can match the wages that a lot of other sides, like Arsenal, are paying right now.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt wouldn\u2019t surprise me if the club can get that deal over the line.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
