West Ham have put talks over a new contract for David Moyes on the backburner until later in the season, sources have told Football Insider<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 60-year-old’s future is up in the air once again after he came close to leaving during the off-season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is believed there is significant tension behind the scenes at the London Stadium – with Moyes<\/a> and recently-appointed sporting director Tim Steidten coming to blows during the summer over transfer targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The duo are yet to completely iron out their issues, while supporters have also targeted the manager for criticism over what they claim is sterile football stepped in negativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Scot is currently out of contract at the London Stadium at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moyes has attracted heavy criticism after West Ham lost three consecutive games in the space of seven days against Aston Villa, Olympiakos and Everton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Irons sit ninth in the Premier League having picked up 14 points from 10 games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moyes led West Ham to their first major European triumph just months ago, lifting the Europa Conference League trophy after beating Fiorentina in Prague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has made the Londoners a fixture in continental competition in recent years, achieving sixth and seventh-place finishes in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The disappointment of last season’s 14th-place finish will have been tempered by the Irons’ success in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moyes, who had a previous spell at the London Stadium between 2017 and 2018, returned to the club in December 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has won 88 of his 191 games in charge of West Ham – a win percentage of just over 46%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Irons are next in action against Arsenal in the League Cup on Wednesday (1 November) before facing Brentford in the league on Saturday (4 November).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
