Man United have completed a deal to hire Ben Clarke from Cardiff City ahead of the January window,\u00a0sources have told Football Insider.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Irishman has headed to the Premier League giants from the Championship club to take on a recruitment role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Cardiff, Clarke was head of academy recruitment and alerted United to make a move as they look to beef up their talent spotting department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Football Insider<\/strong> broke the news on 19th October that Clarke was set to join United after being head-hunted by the club.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has now updated his social media biography to reveal that he has left Cardiff and is now working for the Champions League club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United have targeted Clarke to head up their academy recruitment as they look to bring the best young talent in the country and across the world to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The club are preparing for a total revamp of their footballing operations at the club if Sir Jim Ratcliffe is successful in his bid to buy a minority stake in the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ratcliffe looks set to purchase<\/a> a 25 per cent stake in the club for around \u00a31.3billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it all goes through, Ratcliffe’s company INEOS will take control of the football side of the club from the deeply unpopular owners the Glazers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United have had a poor start to their current campaign with their opening 10 Premier League matches yielding five defeats, including last Sunday’s crushing 3-0 home defeat to Man City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erik ten Hag’s side have fared little better in the Champions League, losing to Galatasaray and Bayern Munich before securing a 1-0 win over Copenhagen last week thanks to a dramatic last-gasp penalty save from Andre Onana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United spent more than \u00a3170million on new signings in the summer on marquee signings including Mason Mount, goalkeeper Onana, and Sofyan Amrabat as well as striker Rasmus Hojlund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
