Ryan Fraser has been backed to secure a permanent Newcastle United exit in January.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider<\/strong>, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton suggested the Magpies may have to drop their asking price in order to get Fraser out the door. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 29-year-old’s current contract at St James’ Park runs until 2025 but he is spending the current campaign on loan at Southampton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fraser was informed in the summer that he had no future at Newcastle after being exiled from the first team before being sent out on loan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As quoted by footballscotland<\/a> (24 October) after scoring the winning goal for the Saints in their 2-1 victory over Hull City, the attacker said his main goal is to stay at the Championship club and get as many minutes as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hutton suggested that Fraser could be in line for a permanent exit in January but the Magpies won’t mind waiting until the summer to offload the Scot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I think that is the best decision even if it happens in the summer<\/em>,” he told Football Insider<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The writing was on the wall that he was not going to be playing much football. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As difficult as it is, sometimes it just does not work out. For player and for club sometimes it is better to move on and it will happen, I can tell you that. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I know he has got a couple of seasons left on his contract but if there can be a deal where you write that off and maybe the transfer fee is not as much, I think that is good to get the player out there and playing again.<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n
