Man City are really confident Julian Alvarez will remain at the club despite reported interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid, sources have told Football Insider<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Spanish giants have once again been widely linked with a potential move for the 23-year-old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alvarez has started the 2023-24 campaign in stellar form as Man City look to repeat their historic treble of last season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The World Cup winner has notched seven goals and five assists in 14 appearances across all competitions this term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He scored on Saturday (21 October) as City ran out 2-1 winners at home against Brighton as they bounced back from back-to-back league defeats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alvarez<\/a> has been playing in a second-striker role in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, who is expected to be injured until the new year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 23-year-old penned a new contract at the Etihad Stadium in March 2023, keeping him at City until 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barcelona and Real Madrid had been linked with the forward during negotiations over that deal, and the El Clasico rivals are once again interested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Man City are confident Alvarez will remain at the club and have no plans to accept a bid for his services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former River Plate man scored 17 goals and grabbed five assists in 49 games last season as Guardiola’s side won a historic treble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the highlight of Alvarez’s season came when he helped Argentina lift the World Cup in Qatar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He managed four goals in seven games during the tournament and grabbed a crucial brace in the semi-final win over Croatia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
