Leeds United are set to be paid an instalment of over \u00a320million by Barcelona this season as part of Raphinha\u2019s transfer fee, Football Insider understands.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 26-year-old Brazilian winger was sold by the Yorkshire club in the 2022 summer transfer window – 15 months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Spanish giants struck an agreement with Leeds worth an overall \u00a355million<\/a> for Raphinha\u2019s signature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the structure of the deal means that the Catalan side amortised the fee over multiple years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is understood that Leeds are set to be paid a \u00a321million instalment before the start of the January transfer window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eight-figure instalment is still not the final payment scheduled from Barcelona for Raphinha, meaning Leeds are still set for future payouts in the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Whites chairman Andrea Radrizzani has previously threatened Barcelona in 2022 with a \u2018global\u2019 legal case<\/a> if they failed to pay Leeds on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The La Liga side have struggled financially in recent years and reportedly had a debt of over \u00a31billion<\/a> before the start of the 2022\/23 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The injection of cash will provide a significant boost to the budget at Elland Road for future transfer windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leeds CEO Angus Kinnear recently stated<\/a> that funds are available to manager Daniel Farke in January to bring in new signings and improve the club\u2019s first-team squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the cash injection may also be used by Leeds to pay off their own debts, with their 2021\/22 accounts revealing that they owed \u00a3104million<\/a> in transfer fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
