{"id":531818,"date":"2023-10-19T07:03:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-19T06:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.footballinsider247.com\/?p=531818"},"modified":"2023-10-19T07:03:00","modified_gmt":"2023-10-19T06:03:00","slug":"man-united-star-mctominay-robbed-as-footage-re-analysed-pundit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.footballinsider247.com\/man-united-star-mctominay-robbed-as-footage-re-analysed-pundit\/","title":{"rendered":"Man United star McTominay robbed as footage re-analysed &#8211; pundit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>VAR is taking the &#8220;magic&#8221; out of football after Man United star Scott McTominay had his wonder goal for Scotland disallowed. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking exclusively to <strong>Football Insider<\/strong>, former West Ham and Scotland striker Frank McAvennie insisted there is no way the Spanish goalkeeper would have been able to save McTominay&#8217;s shot even if he had been trying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As shown on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DAlxQ33zEhw\">Viaplay Sports<\/a> (13 October), the Man United man thought he had put his side 1-0 up against Spain with a stunning free kick  before the shot was disallowed by VAR for a foul by Jack Hendry on Unai Simon, although Uefa later claimed it was for an offside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"HIGHLIGHTS | Spain 2-0 Scotland | Scott McTominay goal is controversially disallowed in Seville\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DAlxQ33zEhw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Scotland went on to lose the game 2-0, they qualified for the Euro 2024 competition following Spain&#8217;s win over Norway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McAvennie was gutted to see the midfielder&#8217;s goal chopped off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<em>It was an incredible strike,&#8221;<\/em> he told <strong>Football Insider<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<em>The keeper would not have got anywhere near that shot even if there was nobody in front of him.
