Gabby Agbonlahor<\/strong> has insisted Chelsea must “forget about January” and focus on finding the right balance with their current squad.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider<\/strong>, claimed the Blues no longer have the assets to generate funds for any more spending. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chelsea spent a reported<\/a> \u00a3400million in the summer window but sit 11th in the Premier League after winning three of their opening eight Premier League games this term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As quoted by the London Evening Standard<\/a> (29 September), Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that he wants to be \u201cmore involved\u201d in the Blues’ transfer activity and has begun identifying January targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chelsea have strung together back-to-back wins in the Premier League, with summer signings Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer on the scoresheet in a 4-1 win over Burnley on Saturday (7 October).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The London outfit have been widely linked with several potential targets, including wantaway Brentford striker Ivan Toney, ahead of the January window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agbonlahor told Football Insider<\/strong>\u2019s Ewan Kingsbury: \u201cI look at this squad of players and I think they\u2019ll get top four, if they\u2019re lucky.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey don\u2019t look like league contenders, even after spending a billion pounds.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think it has to be a minimum expectation of getting back into the Champions League, and maybe they do need help in the transfer market to do that.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut who do you sell to generate the funds? When does it come to a stage where they stop spending all this money.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think they need to forget about the January window, and focus on finding the best eleven and keep picking up wins.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
