Gabby Agbonlahor<\/strong> has backed Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana to bounce back and “prove everyone wrong” after a series of high-profile mistakes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider<\/strong>, admitted the 27-year-old must stop being so “relaxed” and “casual” on the ball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onana made yet another high-profile mistake in the 3-2 Champions League loss against Galatasaray on Tuesday (3 October), with his poor pass leading to the dismissal of Casemiro in the game’s final stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shot-stopper also dropped a clanger in last month’s 4-3 loss against Bayern Munich and has kept just three clean sheets in 10 games so far this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Man United paid a reported<\/a> fee of \u00a347.2million for Onana in the summer window after his stellar performances for Inter Milan last season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David de Gea was allowed to leave on a free transfer in June, prior to the arrival of the Cameroon international.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agbonlahor told Football Insider<\/strong>\u2019s Ewan Kingsbury: \u201cIt\u2019s early doors, give Onana a chance.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been asked to play a certain way, and yes – he will make mistakes.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019ll have to be coached a bit. When Casemiro has got someone right next to him, it\u2019s impossible to play him the ball.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe has also got to stop being so casual. He\u2019s looking far too relaxed on the ball.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are things to be worked on, but you can\u2019t say he\u2019s not a good goalkeeper. I don\u2019t think keeping De Gea was the answer.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGive him time and I\u2019m sure he\u2019ll prove everyone wrong.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
