The Championship’s broadcasting deal will help Sheffield Wednesday ‘absorb’ the losses inflicted because of their owner Dejphon Chansiri.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider <\/strong>about Chansiri and his ‘confusing’ motivations at Hillsborough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheffield Wednesday’s parent company, Sheffield 2 Limited, published their 2021\/22 accounts<\/a> on Tuesday (26 September) revealing losses of \u00a37million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It takes the total losses of the company up to \u00a365million over three years since Chansiri set it up as Wednesday’s parent company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wednesday owner took aim at the club’s fans this week with a lengthy statement<\/a> insisting he will no longer invest in the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maguire questioned Chansiri’s motives but believes Wednesday’s improved revenue in the Championship will help the club handle any losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sheffield Wednesday is a tough one to work out<\/em>,” Maguire told Football Insider’s <\/strong>Sean Fisher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The motivations of the owner, Dejphon Chansiri, are confusing.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The financial results of his company effectively replicate those of the football club itself.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The positives for Sheffield Wednesday are that they are now back in the Championship, but the negative is that they’ve made a poor start to the season.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“However, the difference between the League One and the Championship TV deal is around \u00a36million to \u00a37million.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Plus they\u2019ve got great support and higher attendances because of bigger away support coming to Hillsborough.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
