Chelsea told to sign the “next Didier Drogba” in Brentford star Ivan Toney.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider<\/strong>, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie insisted a player like Toney will help bring the Blues back to the top level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month (10 September), Football Insider<\/strong> revealed that Brentford could demand \u00a370million-plus for the striker in the January window.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bees are said to be reluctant to lose the goalscorer mid-season, particularly given the potential difficulty of finding a replacement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 27-year-old is unable to play for Brentford, or any other club, until 17 January after being handed an eight-month ban back in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mauricio Pochettino’s side added Nicolas Jackson<\/a> in the summer but McAvennie insisted the club are still missing someone like Toney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I still think they could do with Toney. I think if they get him they will be a force to be reckoned with again.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They have got a decent squad but no disrespect to Jackson as I think he will be a great player but he is all over the place, he is a bit like Bambi. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He will be a wonderful asset to Chelsea but if they get Toney it is like getting Drogba, he does not mind mixing it up, he does not mind the long runs and I think that is what Chelsea need.<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n
