{"id":381872,"date":"2022-01-05T20:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-05T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.footballinsider247.com\/?p=381872"},"modified":"2022-01-05T17:31:32","modified_gmt":"2022-01-05T17:31:32","slug":"arsenal-handed-big-gabriel-boost-by-ruling-body-news-today-pundit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.footballinsider247.com\/arsenal-handed-big-gabriel-boost-by-ruling-body-news-today-pundit\/","title":{"rendered":"Arsenal handed &#8216;big&#8217; Gabriel boost by ruling body news today &#8211; pundit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will have &#8220;no complaints&#8221; with Gabriel set to avoid a ban for the League Cup clashes against Liverpool, according to Noel Whelan. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to <strong>Football Insider<\/strong>, insisted the 24-year-old would have been a &#8220;big miss&#8221; against the Reds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EFL <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EFL_Comms\/status\/1478712888344915972\">confirmed<\/a> today (5 January) that Arsenal&#8217;s League Cup semi-final first-leg clash against Liverpool is postponed following a rise in COVID-19 cases at the Merseyside club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote data-conversation=\"none\" class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The first leg of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Carabao_Cup?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Carabao_Cup<\/a> Semi-Final between <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Arsenal?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Arsenal<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LFC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LFC<\/a> scheduled for Thursday 6 January has been postponed following a formal request by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LFC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LFC<\/a> due to a severe outbreak of COVID infections amongst their management and playing staff.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/EFL?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#EFL<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0Y7YOlLMrQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/0Y7YOlLMrQ<\/a><\/p>&mdash; EFL Communications (@EFL_Comms) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EFL_Comms\/status\/1478712888344915972?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 5, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriel was set to be suspended for the tie following his red card in the 2-1 loss against Man City on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the Brazillian will now serve his one-match suspension during this week&#8217;s FA Cup clash against Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whelan insisted the defender&#8217;s dismissal was &#8220;naive&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI think he was a bit na\u00efve,\u201d<\/em> he told <strong>Football Insider<\/strong>&#8216;s Ewan Kingsbury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWhen you\u2019re on a yellow, you have to be a bit more aware\nof the situation. But it was a great take from Gabriel Jesus, and it was just\nnatural instinct for Gabriel to go into him.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cBut we\u2019ve been talking for years about how soft Arsenal are at the back, so it was nice to see that aggression there<\/em>. <em>They\u2019ve got centre-halves in there who can tackle and get physical.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cHe would have been a big miss for them against Liverpool, there\u2019s no doubt about that.
